November 5 Update

It was a challenging afternoon for the NT. Negotiations began with an unscheduled delay to allow the Provost to caucus with the Administration lawyers. The Provost never joined negotiations.

We then spent several hours going back and forth discussing our proposal and their proposal related to Nondiscrimination. The Administration dismissed the UAOU's interests on previous proposals, and made a new proposal instead of responding with counter-proposals. We have not yet reached an agreement. We then gave our twenty-fourth proposal, Accommodations.

Following the most contentious bargaining session to date, the NT has concerns that the Administration (led by an outside attorney) are narrowly interested in restricting the faculty contract as much as possible. They have exhibited minimal interest in working together for fair and equitable policies that meet faculty needs.

The UAOU is hosting town halls in the next several weeks so that faculty can talk to Negotiating Team members about the status of contract negotiations. These sessions are open to all bargaining unit faculty, including non-members, and will provide updates on negotiations as well as information on how you can help support the fight for a fair faculty contract. RSVP at bit.ly/UAOUFallTH.

Our next scheduled negotiating date is Wednesday, November 19 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
